DAVID KOHN ARCHITECTS
David Kohn Architects worked with Nord Studio to convert a listed residential interior in Berlin into a grand office for property developer Euroboden. The London-based architects paid careful attention to the property's historical features. A couple of examples include two-tone paint schemes that recall the original wainscoting as do the two Marmoreal clad rooms, one in black, the other in white. "The rich variety of interiors, along with a distinctive tapering plan, is reminiscent of Sir John Soane's house museum in London which became a source of inspiration. At Tempelhofer Ufer, the design team have sought to echo Soane's blurring of lines between living and working space to create an air of productive domesticity and a clear departure from typical commercial interiors." - David Kohn Architects.
KEIJI ASHIZAWA DESIGN
Japanese architect, Keiji Ashizawa, was commissioned by Blue Bottle Coffee to design their new flagship cafe in Shibuya, Tokyo. Ashizawa used over 7,000 ExCinere Tiles as feature elements throughout the project, and in a range of applications that include tables, walls, steps and counter surfaces. The tiles even inspired a special cheesecake dish. ‘I’ve been fascinated with these tiles since I first saw them in Milan,’ Ashizawa says. Other details include Ishinomaki Laboratory benches at the front of the cafe and sofas designed by Ashizawa for Ariake. The crafted furniture is complemented by modern textures, such as brushed mortar walls, polished concrete walls and warm autumnal orange Kvadrat/Raf Simons textile upholstery.
MARMOREAL COFFEE TABLE
The most basic construction in the collection, the low table can subtly introduce colour to any minimalist interior without feeling out of place. Variations on size are possible upon request.
The studio is now open regular working hours with visitors welcome by appointment. We look forward to welcoming you to discuss your projects and to view our materials in person.
